Move. Cringe. Do it anyway.
London · Monthly-ish
A small group of men going to ecstatic dance event together. No choreography. No alcohol. No one watching us perform. Just a dancefloor, some genuinely strange music, and the slow practice of not caring what we look like.

The idea behind this
The emotion nobody wants to befriend
When men talk about wanting a deeper relationship with their emotional lives, the usual suspects come up… Anger, sadness, shame. But almost no one says: “I want to get closer to my embarrassment.” And yet embarrassment quietly runs so much of what we do and don’t do. It needs an audience, real or imagined. It lives in the gap between who we are and how we think we appear. Men tend not to want to study it. They want to avoid it, outrun it, or make sure it never gets a chance to show up.
“The real edge isn’t in a workshop circle where everyone is there for the same reason. It’s in the ordinary, mixed world – on the street, with colleagues, with strangers who didn’t sign up for your self-exploration.”
Ecstatic dance is interesting because it goes straight to the body. There’s no planning your way through it. You show up, the music starts, and your nervous system has to decide whether it’s safe to move freely in front of a room full of strangers. That tension, that specific awkwardness, is the practice.

What we’re doing
A group for the deliberately awkward
We don’t organise the event, that’s run by Ecstatic Dance London, who’ve been doing this since 2009. We organise a small group of men to go together. The difference that makes…
You're not going alone
Walking into a room full of people dancing freely is less daunting when someone you know is already looking equally unsure.
Once a month
Enough to build familiarity with the discomfort. Not so often it becomes a habit you stop noticing. We pick one Saturday night a month and go.
No performance required
No one here to impress. We’re all equally out of our depth. That’s the whole point of coming as a group, collective awkwardness is oddly freeing.
A real mixed room
This isn’t a men-only event. It’s a regular monthly night with tons of people. That’s the actual exposure and why it works.
How it works
Simple. Awkward. Honest.
Get notified
- Drop your email or join the WhatsApp group. Once a month, we’ll share which Saturday evening we’re heading to Ecstatic Saturdays in Tufnell Park.
Meet at the venue
- We agree a time and meet outside before doors open. Arrive together, go in together, dance however you want (or barely at all the first time), grab some fruit after.
Book your own ticket
- Tickets go through Ecstatic Dance London directly on Eventbrite – we don’t handle money or tickets. Usually £20–30. We’ll share the link each time.
Debrief optional
- Some of us might grab a drink somewhere nearby afterwards. Talk about what that was. Let the awkwardness settle. Realise you’re still intact.

About the organiser
Andrew Winnicki
I’m a mentor, facilitator, and tech leader based in London.
Like many men, I’ve experienced periods of pressure, loneliness, ambition, growth, and figuring life out without always having spaces for honest conversations.
I created Men2 because I believe men need more places where connection feels natural, honest, and free from pressure.
