Gestalt in work with men
Men need to feel empowered to take control of their lives and take meaningful action to make them better. Gestalt therapy focuses on:
- challenging what is hidding in the plain sight
- noticing the obvious behaviours and pattern
- creates a space where both sides are equal
- focused on present, the here and now.
This is the most powerful for men to dig deeper and encourage to solve real problems and challenges.

Why gestalt?
I love the focus on the here and now. Our role isn’t to dwell on the past or get lost in dreams of the future. Instead, we work with what’s causing pain right here, right now.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Gestalt Therapy?
Gestalt Therapy is a humanistic and experiential form of psychotherapy. It focuses on the present moment and increases awareness of your thoughts, feelings, behaviours, and body sensations. The goal is to uncover hidden patterns, take responsibility, and create real, lasting change.
What issues can Gestalt Therapy help with?
Gestalt Therapy can support people dealing with anxiety, stress, depression, trauma, low self-esteem, relationship problems, anger, grief, and feeling stuck in life. It is also effective for personal growth, building self-awareness, and improving communication.
How does Gestalt Therapy work?
Sessions focus on what is happening “here and now.” Instead of only analysing the past, we explore how you experience situations in the present. Through dialogue, experiments, and awareness practices, you learn to recognise patterns and develop healthier ways of responding.
What happens in a Gestalt Therapy session?
A session usually begins with a check-in about how you are feeling in the moment. The therapist may invite you to notice body sensations, role-play a dialogue, or explore unfinished experiences. Each session is collaborative and tailored to your needs.
Is Gestalt Therapy suitable for men?
Yes. Gestalt Therapy creates a direct, equal, and supportive space where men can face challenges without judgment. It helps men build awareness, break old patterns, and develop the courage to take meaningful action in life.
How is Gestalt Therapy different from other types of therapy?
Unlike CBT, which focuses mainly on thoughts and behaviours, Gestalt Therapy also works with emotions, the body, and the client–therapist relationship. It is more experiential, meaning you actively explore and practice new ways of being rather than just talking about problems.
How many sessions will I need?
Everyone is different. Some people benefit from short-term work (6–12 sessions), while others choose longer-term therapy for deeper exploration. You can review progress regularly with your therapist and decide what works best for you.
Can Gestalt Therapy help with trauma?
Yes, Gestalt Therapy can be effective for trauma, as it works at your pace and focuses on safety in the present moment. For complex trauma, your therapist may combine Gestalt with trauma-informed approaches or refer to specialised support if needed.
Do you offer online Gestalt Therapy?
Yes, Gestalt Therapy is available both in person and online. Online sessions work well and provide the same level of presence, depth, and confidentiality.
Is Gestalt Therapy confidential?
Yes. All sessions are strictly confidential, except in rare cases where there is a legal or safety obligation to share information.
